A Long Journey the Grace Care Center

A waiting room full of people at the Grace Care Center is also a room full of stories. People’s stories bring them here for all sorts of reasons, and we wanted to share one with you today. Of the 506 new families this summer that come to the Grace Care Center seeking support, each one has a unique story, and this is just one.

A mother, father, and two small children fled Russia after the conflict in Ukraine. They traveled through two countries throughout the next few months before finally receiving the proper paperwork to proceed into America. After arriving in Texas the family drove to Indiana where they had a friend. While they may have made it to their destination, they wouldn’t stop waiting.

Making it to America was just step one. Next comes the RTW, right-to-work permit. A person is legally allowed to be in the country, but you are not permitted to work for the first six months. Can you imagine crossing the world and trying to support a family without wages for 6 months? This is when their friend introduced them to the Grace Care Center.

While the father spoke partial English, the mother had little to no English language abilities, it’s families like this that have spurned on the many different offerings of the Grace Care Center. This is why the Grace Care Center provides so much more than food! This family needs a Vehicle Services, English Classes, the Choice Food Pantry, and Referral Services.

The Grace Care Center’s Sustainable Care model provides so much more than food. It’s raising people up to sustainability and showing them the God-given dignity they so often are stripped of in their stories. We are asking that you consider sponsoring one of these 506 families by becoming a recurring donor of $30 a month. Every Care Center Friend has a story that brought them to the Grace Care Center. Would you help the Foundation for Sustainable Care resource the Grace Care Center and give these 506 families the future they need to find hope and dignity?
