Have You Ever Had to Start Over?

Stories of

the 506

When life makes you start over, you’ll need a hand.

In everyone's life, there are times of "starting over." A career change, a relationship ends, or something new enters into our lives. Sometimes, these new beginnings can be exciting, however, when you are forced to start over, it's often painful and can destabilize your entire life. Oftentimes, Care Center Friends have been forced to start over in some way. Today, we wanted to share a couple of stories that illustrate just that. While the names have been changed these are two stories of Care Center Friends that came to the Grace Care Center because they were forced to start over.

Patricia's family has lived in the same area of Indiana for generations. She had planned to retire in the near future when financial challenges forced her to sell the family house. Without choosing it, she had to restart and try to build towards a sustainable future. In her journey to rebuild her life, she sought assistance from the Grace Care Center's Choice Food Pantry, relying on their support for groceries and guidance. This unexpected turn has led her to recalibrate her plans, but she now knows that she is not alone.

Similarly, Betty was living on a fixed income and faced a major health setback that required surgery. It left her incapacitated for several weeks. Complications arose, leading to a second surgery, prolonged pain management, and a prolonged period confined to her bed. She was forced to watch her financial stability erode while trying to recover in bed. Turning to the Choice Food Pantry for help, Betty found solace not only in the groceries provided but also in the compassionate gestures, uplifting words, and heartfelt prayers from her personal shopper. These acts of kindness showed her that while she would need to rebuild parts of her life, she too was not alone.

These stories are just two of the many who need help starting over. There are so many more stories from the 506 new families who need your support. If you've ever been forced to start over, you know that you cannot do it alone. The Foundation for Sustainable Care resources the Grace Care Center so that nobody has to start over alone. We urge you to consider making a donation to the Choice Food Pantry, as your support can make a profound difference in the lives of individuals like Patricia and Betty, who are starting over.
