This Minivan is a Life Changer

How do you get from point A to point B?

Reliable transportation is more than just getting from point A to point B—it’s a lifeline in Central Indiana, especially for families facing financial challenges.

In our area, many of our friends struggle with transportation issues that make it hard to get to work or school…or even to a medical appointment. For those living in poverty, the cost of owning and maintaining a car can be overwhelming. Without dependable transportation, opportunities shrink, making it even tougher to break the cycle of poverty.

Nashika and her family at the recent Community Fair.

Take Nashika, for example. She’s been part of the Grace Care Center Co-op for a while now. As a single mom of three, she’s had her fair share of challenges, especially with transportation. Without a car, she had to rely on a rideshare service, which not only drained her budget but also limited her ability to work. Despite these setbacks, Nashika didn’t give up. She worked closely with her financial coach to stay on track with her budget and make ends meet.

Recently, things took a turn for the better when Grace Care Center was able to help Nashika find a minivan. I caught up with her recently, and she shared some incredible news—she’s back at work! As a hospice nurse, Nashika now has the freedom to visit multiple patients each day, driving between homes without any hassle. Having reliable transportation has opened up new possibilities for her, allowing her to continue her important work and better support her family.

Volunteers help top off fluids and replace windshield wipers at the recent Community Fair.

Did you know every other month, Christian Brothers Automotive of Westfield helps Care Center Friends stay on top off preventative maintenance to help keep them on the road to work and school?

Their team was recently on hand at the Community Fair helping top off fluids and replace windshield wipers for 103 cars. What a blessing for so many neighbors in our community!

Stories like Nashika’s are why Grace Care Center exists. By supporting Grace Care Center, you’re making a real difference in people’s lives, one friend and one volunteer at a time.
