The Foundation for Sustainable Care Welcomes New Leadership

We are thrilled to introduce Cara Augspurger as the new executive director of the Foundation for Sustainable Care, and Jon Kizer as the new chair of the board of directors. Both Cara and Jon are founding members of the  Foundation’s board and long-time Grace Care Center volunteers, bringing a unique and invaluable perspective to their leadership roles. Cara and Jon's dedication to the Foundation, coupled with their extensive experience, ensures a seamless transition and a continued commitment to the Foundation's mission.

Cara Augspurger, Executive Director of the Foundation for Sustainable Care

Cara has been a member of the Foundation’s board since 2017, serving as vice chair and most recently as chair of the board. With more than 27 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, operations, and leadership, Cara is exceptionally well-suited to lead the Foundation for Sustainable Care. Cara holds a B.S. and Ed.M. from the University of Illinois and is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE).

As Cara takes on the role of executive director, she will be succeeding Brian Boone, who has returned to full-time pastoral ministry. The Foundation wishes him well in the next chapter of his ministry.

Jon Kizer, our newly appointed chair of the board, has also been a long-standing member of the Foundation board of directors, contributing his time and expertise as a dedicated volunteer. Before joining the Foundation board, Jon established and led Direct Path Alliance and served as the president of the board of Chaucie’s Place. Jon's commitment to serving the Grace Care Center community and his proven leadership skills position him well to guide the board in supporting the Foundation for Sustainable Care during this exciting time. Jon’s leadership will be bolstered by Cathy Foley who assumes the vice chair position on the Foundation’s board.

Jon Kizer, Board Chair of the Foundation for Sustainable Care

Grace Church’s Pastor of Engagement and Foundation Board Member Marcus Casteel said, “I have watched both Cara and Jon’s involvement in the Grace Care Center grow over most of the last decade. They have already impacted the Foundation in huge ways over the years and both will be in perfect roles to continue their amazing impact. The Grace Care Center will be a stronger ministry with them leading the Foundation.”

Jon succeeds Greg Guevara, who has served on the board of directors for six years, including two full terms as chair of the board. Greg's leadership has been instrumental in the Foundation's growth and success, and we extend our deepest gratitude for his dedicated service and leadership.

Reflecting on his tenure, Greg shared, "It has been an honor to serve as chair of the Foundation for Sustainable Care Board of Directors for the past six years. I am immensely proud of the strides we've made in supporting the Grace Care Center and making a positive impact in our community.”

Jon added, "It's an honor to assume the role of chairman and lead our highly engaged board of directors. Both Cara and I are deeply invested in the Foundation's mission. Our shared history with the Foundation positions us well to guide its future endeavors."

As we embark on this new chapter, we want to express our deep appreciation for the support of our community. Your commitment has been the foundation of care in our community, and we are excited for you to get to know Cara and Jon and join us in welcoming them to their new roles at the Foundation for Sustainable Care.
