Read the Final Part of Beverly’s Story

As 2024 wraps up, we wanted to share the final part of Beverly’s story. She is just one of the 1135 Care Center Friends who found hope in 2023 at the Grace Care Center. Your support would mean the world to folks like Beverly and would help us meet the growing need in our community. Here is Beverly’s story in her own words:

“I have been in the co-op for a year and a half now. The monthly meetings have really helped me focus on the things I need to change in my life and how to do that. The next big thing that happened to me was one Saturday after having my oil changed in my car. My car was having some issues and they looked at what it would take to get it fixed. They decided it wasn’t worth fixing, but I still needed a car. They said that they would talk to me in the co-op about some options. I learned about the micro-loan program and the zero percent interest for vehicles. As we started walking down that road, it was taking a lot longer than I thought. I had a lot of credit card debt and they didn’t want to just add more debt. Instead, we gathered all my debt and created a plan to reduce the debt. We were able to create a plan that allowed me to get the car and reduce my credit card debt drastically. I have discovered that it is going to be the best in the end because living above your means and having these credit cards only helps you to spend more of the money that you do not have but now, I am beginning to learn to stay within what I have. I learned a lot within this process, I learned patience. I discovered that when the Bible says that in His time he makes all things beautiful it is very true because in His time he gave me a beautiful car.

I am on a path that is leading me towards the right way, and I am extremely grateful and thankful to everybody in the Care Center. They are all so kind. It is a place that I look forward to coming to each week. I just feel like all my problems tend to be at ease, it tends to take stress off me, and it makes me feel good and happy. Every time I speak with anybody, there is always a lesson learned, there's always something positive that helps me move on. I can't say how grateful I am but I am blessed to be part of this and I look forward to the day when I will graduate from the co-op program and I'll become a volunteer in the Care Center and I know God is going to make that beautiful in his own time.”

I hope Beverly’s story was encouraging to you this holiday season. Thank you so much for joining us on Beverly’s journey this month, and we hope you will consider helping the Foundation for Sustainable Care to resource the Grace Care Center next year by giving before this year ends. There are so many more stories like Beverly who need some hope.
